20 Tips for Anti Aging
With advancing age, the skin often shows the tell-tale signs of aging: sagging skin, crow’s feet, wrinkles, dullness and age spots. Some people look older than their years, their skin ravaged by the sun, dry air and stress, whereas others manage to look younger than they are. The skin looks it best in the twenties and by the thirties, the skin may show signs of aging. If you want to look good longer, follow these tips for anti-aging.
Moisturization – keeping the skin supple and smooth is important. Use a good quality moisturizer always. You can get different ones to suit your skin type, so don’t think that if you have oily skin, you don’t need to use moisturizer.
Sunscreen – the sun is the skin’s enemy. In the old days, people used to wear hats and use umbrellas to shield their skin. Now you use sunblock. Use the cream or lotion with a high SPF power to protect your skin from the sun. If you are going to be out in the sun, say on a beach and going swimming, replenish the sunscreen you use.
Cleansing – wash your face as often as necessary. Use a face wash or mild soap for surface cleansing. Use a make-up remover lotion or pads to remove make-up. Use a scrub to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week, though you can use a face wash scrub more often.
Eyes – you can get puffy eyes that make you look older if you don’t get enough sleep. Sleep with your head elevated so that any fluid that may build-up under the eyes moves downwards thanks to gravity. Use an under-eye cream or lotion. Get enough sleep and use sunglasses when going out in the sun.
Hands and neck – these betray the age very fast. When cleansing and washing or applying any lotion or cream on the face and neck, use an upward motion to counteract gravity. Make sure that every time you wash your hands you apply lotion.
Forehead – it is easy to get wrinkles on your forehead. For this, apart from keeping the forehead moisturized, be mindful of when you are furrowing your brows and practice relaxation, otherwise, you can develop wrinkles.
Facial yoga – there are easy to do exercises to help counteract smile lines and wrinkles and you can do them several times a day, sitting at your desk or during your daily activities.
Face packs – use face packs at least once a week to tighten the skin. You can use home-made face packs with kitchen ingredients.
Hydration – drink sufficient water to be well hydrated.
Hair style – choose an age and climate appropriate hairstyle that is easy to maintain.
Hair color – sometimes a change in hair color can help you lose years.
Hair conditioning and hair masks – condition your hair after shampooing and use a hair spa or hair mask every week or at least twice a month to help your hair look shiny and lustrous.
Diet – make sure that you are getting all the nutrients you need, especially antioxidants, omega-2 fatty acids, flavonoids, and carotenoids. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Exercise – any kind of exercise helps you lose weight and maintain skin health since it flushes out toxins.
Posture – be mindful of your posture at all times and sit and walk straight. A poor posture adds years to your looks.
Relaxation – take some time off every day to get some me-time and relax.
Make-up – use light make-up whenever possible and avoid slathering on too many products that will actually make wrinkles and lines look more prominent.
Smoking and alcohol – both damage the skin. If you must drink, switch to wine which is high in antioxidants.
Teeth – having white teeth helps you look better. Take good care of your teeth by brushing and flossing and use teeth whitening products (or go to a dentist) if your teeth are stained, discolored or crooked.
Supplements – in case your diet is inadequate, you can consider taking nutritional supplements including vitamins.
When you take care of your diet, health, and exercise and follow adequate skincare regimes regularly, you can look much younger than your years.
