Herbal teas are not a panacea for all ills. If you have a serious medical problem you need to get properly diagnosed and take the correct treatment. Avoid herbal teas that are specifically packaged for weight loss as many contain laxatives or substances that are not good for health. Among the herbs or products containing the herbs you should avoid are comfrey, willow bark, ephedra, germander, chaparral, lobelia, aloe, senna, buckthorn, pineapple weed.

If you have a medical condition and you want to try herbal tea, it is best to check with a naturopath or herbalist who will guide you rather than trying something on your own. This is all the more important if you are already taking medications for your condition. You don’t want to lose out on the benefits of herbal teas, after all.
